New York Fashion Week Recap from Larry in Burberry

Larry in Burberry is Beside the Weather’s fashion correspondent. He analyzes fashion trends for common wearers of clothes. He dreams of IKEA-inspired Balenciaga bags but still puts his furniture together himself.

Think of Larry in Burberry like Damsel in Dior’s work husband, who she really loves but sometimes gets annoyed with because he goes too all out on the 4th of July. Follow Larry on Insta here.

It was a spectacular week in New York to kick off the Fall/Winter fashion month season. We saw established veterans try new things, enthusiastic newcomers burst onto the scene and more-and-more designers take us behind-the-seams. There were robots, unicorns, crazy animal prints, Drag Kid Desmond and so much Pussy Power.

Grab some haute Cheetos and strap in. We have some delicious fashion to snack on.

New York Fashion Week will always start in the street (H/T Coco Chanel). The cobblestones and cabs partner perfectly with the energy, expression, freedom and hustle to create the realest, rawest street style snapshots. This was Larry’s favorite #NYFW street style look, only partially because I have similar glasses.

Annddddd I couldn’t resist asking my favorite existential fashion question to Caitline Lizaxo, an up-an-coming fashion blogger who covered fashion week from every angle the last seven days.

I do know.

Brock Collection was a label that caught Larry’s attention for the first time at #NYFW, mostly because I have a good friend named Brock.

Let’s compare which we like better: Brock Collection or Brock’s Collection.

We’ll start with blue, sleeveless tops.

Brock Collection:

Brock’s Collection:

The Brock Collection label actually launched their debut delivery, Fall 2014, in Paris with a private trunk show. Here’s my friend Brock also with a private trunk show.

Ok, now let’s move to brownish, long-sleeve clothing.

Meowwwwww. Have to give the edge to Brock here.

Speaking of pussy power, these shoes wow’d all the nocturnal animals at Tom Ford, including Hailey Baldwin, Doutzen Kroes and Rosie in the front row.

Songs of Style also displayed the power of the p.u.s.s.y with the purrfect under blazer tee from Chloe.

Inspired by Aimee and Chloe, Larry made his own more male-anatonomy-focused cat tank. It was a big hit at the gym.

The Jeremy Scott show was as colorful as always. Larry needs a break at this point, so let’s have Jeremy’s brothers from other mothers, Micheal Scott and Travis Scott, weigh in on this show’s looks.

And Travis Scott has to be sick of talking about the new baby, so let’s also get his thoughts.

Ok, ok, let Larry back in here. As a child, I got those Goosebumps R.L. Stine (it’s the remix!!!), so I particularly loved the Jeremy Scott look that channeled Return of the Mummy.

Phewwww. That was a lot. Let’s exhale and take in Cardi B with Anna Wintour sitting next to each other at Alexander Wang. The rapper coyly told E! News they talked about “stuff”.

Speaking of Alexander Wang, he posted an Instagram photo with the caption: shake and bake. when your ziplock is extra…

Let’s get one thing straight Wang. There are only two shake and bakes in this world. Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr. and what Larry’s momma coated the chicken with on special occasions.

This is what a real man’s “extra” Ziplock should look like:

The thought of momma’s special recipe home-made late night chicken is enough to keep Larry going, as opposed to whatever YOU have in that Ziplock to keep you up all night at your fancy after parties.

The Philipp Plein show was a Michael Bay joint, with Irina Shayk and Optimus Prime entering out of a UFO and walking down the runway hand-in-claw.

Do we think Bradley Cooper should be worried about Mr. Robot Steal Yo Girl?

According to this Just Jared picture, it appears he’s thinking of something other than his business meeting.

In a week filled with fashion’s finest, 10-year-old Desmond Napoles, aka Desmond is Amazing, aka Drag Kid Desmond, stole the show when he walked at Gypsy Sport.

Desmond is an LGBTQ advocate and will soon be opening the first drag house for drag kids, called Haus of Amazing. He wrote on Instagram, “I call my looks ‘androgynously’ and my style ‘avant drag’. I’m inspired by RuPaul, the fashions of the Club Kids and Blitz Kids, the artists Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, designers John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, and Commes Des Garçons, Nelson Sullivan videos, altdrag, and do-it-yourself drag. I design or style my own outfits.”

He says he came out of the closet when he was born. I once sat in my closet as a child to see how long my mom ignored me and then made her feel bad for it. We’re on similar career trajectories.

Meme curators even got into the fashion week action. Here’s *** *** ****** Instagram story (via someone else no doubt).

While this look is pretty wild, it reminds Larry of his cozy cabin in Eagle River, Wisconsin (view below) . If that wood is from a real fishing platform and not these bougie piers all the fashion shows are at hosted at in NYC, I can fish off Vincenzo’s pier.

As the sun sets on this NYFW recap, I’d like to put Reese Blutstein, aka Double3xposure, on notice. She got a lot of buzz at #NYFW and W Magazine ran a feature last week titled:

Not if Larry has anything to do with it Reese. You better keep your creases sharp. Larry’s pants will always be pressed. And Larry’s just getting started. Did a rainbow magically appear in your pic, Reese? I think not.
